It's the week you've all been waiting for--Social Media Week February 2016! Now I realize not everyone looks forward to this week as much as me, but it is a truly great opportunity for learning and collaboration. Taking place in four cities across the globe, this is the first in a series of year-long conferences focused on the power of social media. While there are hundreds of amazing sessions to attend, check out these can't-miss ones for digital advocacy leaders:
- "Small Budget, Big Impact: How to Run a Successful Social Media Campaign Without Breaking the Bank"
Many non-profits operate on a tight budget. But, that doesn't mean you can't have an effective social media campaign. This session explores how to stretch your dollars and cents to make the most impact. If you can't attend, you can follow along with the hashtag #smwBigImpact.
- "Pope-emojis and Millennials: How Pope Francis Engages the Largest Generation Alive Today"
Millennials have long eluded many advocacy campaigns but you can engage them. As you learn about how the Catholic Church used social media to connect Millennials to Pope Francis, consider how your non-profit can apply these same lessons. Want to add your own insight? Tweet using #SMWTracx.
- "Advocacy FTW: How to Turn Your Super Fans Into Impactful Brand Advocates"
For non-profits of all sizes and shapes, word-of-mouth can be a powerful marketing asset. This session delves into how to generate this same word-of-mouth buzz through social media. Follow along with this session with the hashtag #HootSMW.
Regardless of whether or not you attend SMW February 2016, this conference does highlight the integral role of social media in our world. Social media plays a critical part in any digital campaign; you need social media to reach and engage your advocates.
